Hello friends, I have been busy these last couple days trying to learn Italian. You may think that me learning this language is kind of random, and let me just tell you that it is. I was just sitting at home bored these last couple of days, and looking for something to do. I had the app, Duolingo, downloaded on my phone- intending to learn French, but after a bit I realized that French was kind of way too hard for me. (Also it reminded me of french class in grade 4 and I HATED that class.) Another popular language on the app was Italian, and so I thought why not.
It seems kind of boring (and it would take WAY to long to type up) to tell you guys what I’ve learned so far, but let me just say that it is so much harder than I thought it would be. Above is one of many pages of my notebook filled with Italian- it’s a complete mess since there’s so much to know. (My writing is also a complete mess- much like my life.)
I mean, learning an extra language would be amazing and would open up so many opportunities for me. To anyone who is bilingual/trilingual/etc…is so talented and I have so much respect for everyone that can speak multiple languages.
I myself speak English and Chinese (albeit my Mandarin isn’t that good), but I have given up on trying to learn to read/write Chinese. It’s just way too hard for me! There are so many characters and don’t even get me started on trying to memorize all of them. I remember as a child my parents tried to get me to learn Chinese, but I never really paid much attention. Boy am I regretting that now.
Looking back now, by learning another language, I could have broadened my horizons and been given so many new opportunities. With that being said, I am trying very hard to learn Italian and maybe it will lead to studying abroad in Italy (a dream come true).
Until next time,
